This mammoth journey of 55 hours and 2,438 miles, took us through some amazingly diverse landscapes. From expansive plains to the forested Rocky Mountains and snow-tipped peaks of the Sierra Nevada. Amtrak provided us with our own cabin, and three decent meals a day were included in the price. Definitely a trip worth taking, there's something about trains that encourages people to be more sociable than they would be on planes, and we met a lot of interesting characters.

Train travelled via; Burlington, IA, Omaha, NE, Denver, CO, Glenwood Springs, CO, Salt Lake City, UT, Reno, NV, and Sacramento, CA.
