Tuesday 17th August We started the day with a typical Holland breakfast, bread, cheese (yum) ham, salami, eggs coffee (lots of coffee, good coffee the best in Holland we are told, D&E). Such a good spread on the table every morning. Ina had to work for the morning so we ventured off with our tour guide to Rooden to a big camping super store for a look. The highlight of the day was discovering Frikandel special, a sausage in a plastic container with onions, mayonnaise and curry sauce. Hmmmm very yummy!
On the way back to Hardenberg the tour guide mentioned a small village that might be nice to stop at. After calling Ina to find the name of it to enter in the GPS we arrived at Orvelte - the thatched roof house village. As it frequently does, it started raining. We pulled out the umbrellas and wandered around in the rain for a while. Elisha decided that 20cents was a bargain for a piece of sweet wood. It was next to the lollies and she thought it was a good idea, although sweet wood is really just wood (with a little bit of sweet flavour)!
Tanja, Jerry, Xander (5Yr) Dylan (3Yr) who were all camping nearby and were washed out by the rain came over for dinner. Shane and his family spent a few months living with Ina and Tanja in Holland when he was 13years, so it had been almost 22 years since they had seen each other. It was good to see Tanja and her family and catch up.
We all sat by the open fire talking with Ina in the middle of summer! Bert was at soccer coaching in the rain.
