Morning again. Mal's still in bed. we hiked Paintbrush Canyon yester day. gorgeous hike. It was about 6ish miles up. It ended up being a 13ish mile trip. Just some highlights. Turns out we get to see not one bear, but TWO bears. Thank goodness Craig was leading. The first one came out of a tree like a spider monkey! I thought it was going to attack. Craig, mountain man that he is fought it off bare handed! OK, that is all fictitious starting with the spider monkey comment. Anyway, that bear let us pass, and then all of a sudden, about half a mile down the trail, there was a bear 5 yards to our right. just looking at us. I've nothing against bears, but they might make me a bit nervous. Anyways, the trip up the canyon was beautiful, we gained a lot of elevation and consumed a lot of water. My feet blew out. The blister I'd had on my index toe actually formed a blister inside a blister. but surprisingly, that paled to me blowing out both heels. I've got no skin left on either heel. I had to cut it all off last night when we got back. That means excessive duct tape for the rest of the trip! I went and bought a pair of flip flops, so that should alleviate any pain for the day. We're going to Yellowstone for the day. Check out the pics!
