Bonjour Le Web,
Welcome to my very own travel blog. I will be using this to document my travels across Thailand and Australia and wherever I may end up. I have decided to get the swing of things before i depart so I will start with this coming Saturday's Parachute Jump in aid of National Council for the Blind Ireland.
I have raised €650 for this and those of you who have sponsored me thank you.
I will report back on how it goes....eek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bonjour Le Web,
Well i did it.....the single most frightening moment in my life....turns out to be the greatest buzz ever.
The day started with us leaving Cobh at 6.30 am!!! after Quarry Cock pints the night before, not the greatest of starts. With Bruce's miraculous driving we made it to Clonbullogue Co. Offaly and http://www.skydive.ie/ for the jump or the National Council for the Blind. Between us we managed to raise €2100.
We registered at 9.30am and were waiting with anticipation and a few hungover nerves (some more than others...Liam) for the jump....but the day began badly. With low lying clouds (at 1000ft the bastards) we were unable to start jumping so we had a long wait. other people started about 12.00 and we got up at approx 4.00pm.
The flight up was terrifying. But nothing compares to the moment the plane slows down...at 10,000 feet...and the door opens. Clinging to my tandem jumper i eased myself, feet first out of the plane and....gone!!!!
The initial buzz is indescribable. Free falling for 40 seconds is amazing. but the slower, 4 and a half minute desent with the canopy open is the greatest feeling in the world.
I tell ye all......YOU HAVE TO DO A PARACHUTE JUMP.
As my instructor said: "You don't get to fly through a cloud everyday!!!"
