I can't believe this past wknd was our last wknd in KL for the work study! I am sad that it is ending, because I met some really awesome people and had a group of great room mates! On the other hand I am so excited to start travelling around and see Jenna next week!
So this past Wednesday it was Ali's birthday. After our seminar we went out to Changkat Bukit Bintang, which is now our favorite wknd party place. It was really fun, and it was a Wednesday so ladies drink free at all the bars, which was excellent for my funds!
On Thursday night we went to Chinatown. To spice things up I decided to do my hair and make-up 80's style because going out normal is just boring! Chinatown is always successful because of all the bargaining. We took a cab home, we refer to this as the death ride. I made a video of it and it was a little frightening, but we got home fast and in one piece!
On Saturday we went to Genting Highlands for the day. It is up a mountain or hill and is around 18C, so chilly compared to the heat we are used to. We took 2 trains, a cab and a gondola to get there. It was very lush, green and foggy. At the highlands there are 2 theme parks ( 1 indoor and 1 outdoor). Along with shops and all sorts of flashing lights - perfect for my A.D.D! Unfortunately most of the outdoor rides were closed because it was too foggy. The problem with the theme park is the same of sunway lagoon - inefficient. Huge lines and only one cart at a time type of thing. We watched some shows, went bowling and walked around.
We got home and had another night out. We went to a bar called Havana club that was really fun and the European soccer was on. Since the area has lots of tourists there were tons of people in Dutch and Danish jerseys. There is also a significantly high amount of creepiness in KL nightlife, so I have been doing "the face" very frequently, with a moderate success rate.
Yesterday Jessica and I went for Dim Sum and it was fabulous! I also got a massage, which wasn't as bad as the foot reflexology, but today my back feels bruised, so I think I will pass on any future massages.
There is an Indian restaurant right across the street from out apartments and I like going there to have cheese naan bread. It is so good because they make it fresh in the tandoori oven. As soon as i get close to the restaurant they yell " Cheese Naan in the house" because that is all I ever order. Yet every time I order it they always ask if I want tandoori/curry. I always say "no just naan". They think it is quite weird. I compare it to ordering a burger, but just the bun. Oh well it works me for me!
This week we present our project on Myanmar Oil and Gas on Tuesday, then on Wednesday we present our group projects about our work. I am leaving a bag here in KL at our work office and will just pick it up after travelling. Lisette and I booked our flights and leave to Singapore on Saturday afternoon. I am very excited for Singapore, (even though it's expensive - by Asian standards), because it is so clean and Durian is illegal there. Durian is a fruit that smells like rotten feet and the fumes are everywhere here. Apparently it's an acquired taste. One which I will choose to not acquire!
