We get up fairly early to head up to Christ the redeemer with Michelle and Carlee (another Australian girl) (http://www.corcovado.com.br/index_ing.html) you can see him almost anywhere in Rio, he sits atop of a high mountain watching over Rio and is even lit up at night.

We catch the bus to the bottom of the mountain, where you catch the train and realise the next avaliable seats are at 5:00pm, its only 11am mind you. So we walk up the street next to it and ask a taxi driver who wanted R$50 each. So about AUD$100, sif. So we stand in the queue for the shuttle bus which only costs R$25 each. After about 20 mins it is finally our turn. Hop in and manage to get the back seat. After a nice windy drive up through a jungle forest he tells us we have to get out, even though the impression they made was that it would take us all the way up. So we get out an realise there is another queue to buy the entry ticket which is R$26, after waiting another 20 mins in this queue we get our ticket and find yet another queue to get the shuttle up to the actual statue. This one took around 40min. Once we finally get in the shuttle, again getting the back seat! We make it up to the top around the windy roads. The view is amazing. When we get to the statue is it packed. It not as big as you imagine looking at it from the ground on Rio. Take a few happy snaps and eat then stand in the queue to get back down! This one only took about 15 mins, get the back seat again and head down to the middle point where we catch our next shuttle. Another queue! After about 20 mins we are finally down the bottom again! Catch the bus back to the hostel.

Buy some groceries to make dins, our first hostel made dinner! Pasta aha
Get back and sit on the net for a bit. Michelle, Carlee and me start cooking dinner with the random assortment of utensils at the hostel, no sharp knifes, no chopping boards, the kitchen is tiny, so the onion manages to  make us all cry. Put the garlic in a little too early and it ends up black. Once its all put together though tastes fine :). Although the lettuce in the salad is sooo bitter.

We start getting ready and having a few pres at the hostel. our plan is to fing cheap tickets to the sambodroe from scalpers. Find 2 english guys who want to join us - adam and liam. Walk to the train station by this time its about quarter to 12 and we get told trains finish at 12, manage to make it though.get off at centro stat
lon. walk oout and get asked if we want tickets straight away. the guy leads the six of us to the other side of the road nect to where the schools wait.comes back a few times telling us to a wait. get a few photos of people in costumes. finally he comes back and leads us up the road, we each pay for our tickets R$80 in section 12 but realise he was one ticket short, carlee didnt get one. We had to bring the bloody englishmen! They tell us to wait. so we do for a bit, bon and michelle decide to go find one somewhere else, after about 20mins we figure they cant get another, and the other two are back saying they can get them off other people. so we walk up the street a bit more asking if anyone is selling tickets
