This week I had a job interview.. wearing sandals. Ok, they are almost like ballet flats, leather, black but they also had gaping holes where the rest of the shoe should be. Not what I would call appropriate interview attire. I also didn't have stockings so my pasty white legs were completely exposed.

What I learnt from this? I clearly haven't packed appropriately.. I had to buy a pair of black pants yesterday for my second interview to try and make up for indecency of my first meeting. I had packed boots and a black trench coat but they seem ridiculous to wear when the weather is sunny and 26 degrees outside.

In my defence I hadn't expected to be interviewed on the spot. I had done my make-up and looked respectable from the waist up. I planned to visit a couple of recruitment agencies, just dropping in my resumes and before I knew it I was sitting at a table trying to sell myself to the recruitment office. I'd printed off some copies of my resume half and hour before at the Swap office, and to my dismay the printer had left some marks each of the pages! Sitting before the recruitment officer, with my speckled resume in hand and wearing sandals, wishing my skirt was a longer and had stockings underneath it, I was feeling very much out of my comfort zone.

My advice to anyone planning to travel and work is pack some black pants, they can be dressed up or dressed down, you don't need to worry about having pasty legs and are very comfortable to wear!
