This was followed by lunch on the Hudson river - on a floating pontoon. It was wonderful to have a grilled chicken wrap which was served with salad, not fries or anything deep fried but a simple balsamic vinegar salad. Bon Apetit.
After lunch we walked the remaining south end of the High line which brought us to the meatpacking district. We then caught a train down to the 9/11 Site. Although we did not go into the memorial we were able to see the construction of the new towers and were able to go into the visitor information centre. It was a sobering experience but the re-birth of the landscape gave a much more hopeful view of the future.
After yet another day of intense walking, two weary travellers headed back to our beloved hostel with peanut buttercups and a slushie. We stumbled on a Japanese restaurant and had Dinner at the sushi train bar. We both enjoyed watching the different types if sushi pass by our table, maybe a little too much!

Shae!! I've just had a second to sit down and read your tales of adventure in NYC. Loved it! So cool to see you in the photos with all the American icons - I think my favourite is the picture with the view across to the Empire State building, also the part where Emma comments that there are marshmallows in your breakfast cereal!! It's hard to imagine from back here in Melbs that you're both wearing shorts/pretty dresses - I've just come back from doing field work in -4 deg, that's *minus* four - not really a shorts wearing situation! Keep writing, it's very entertaining. xx
Totally agree with Shana, keep writing, it gives the rest of us hope back in cold old Melbourne. Love the pics, keep them coming.
