in Georgetown, Guyana.......minus one American blonde eagle last seen flying towards the frigid north.  Rumors is she hitchhiked on a Westjet flight landing in Toronto at 5:55 pm today.  Had a smooth transition to Guyana .....no hassles.  When the ATM at the airport didn't work I had the $1000. Guyanese bill to get me into town for $240 and then get a taxi for $400..  Hard getting used to all those zeroes.  One ATM actually charged me $3.00 US to extract $30. US.  Then I extracted $150. US for the same $3.00........duh!!   Found a great guest house and even managed to get my Suriname visa for my future visit there.  Tomorrow I will check out a few of the minor highlights of Georgetown and some of the guided tours to the various attractions.  This touring really cannot be done alone because of the poor infrastructure for their small tourist industry.  The Banks Premium beer looks promising here and I will research it tonight.
