cusco is an aliright city. i guess we didnt get to know it very well. i alays thought itīd seem cooler. more like san cristobal o something but its just a dirty touristy city. i had some delicious llama on a stick for 40 cents!!! street food is super cheap, its all we really eat. its nutritious though and sometimes tastey, but we are both getting sick of peruvian food. rice, boney and grisstly pollo, and yeah thats about it. bread and queso fresco for breakfast which makes raina wanna puke. but lots of fruit and it is cheap. and lots of cheap tastey fresh juices on the street fo staying hydrated. often cheaper than wate which we ususally have to buy.
we traveled to maccu picchu the cheapskate way, as usual. instead of paying 140 us dollars for a train from cusco we took a series of buses and collectivos and payed a total of 45 soles which is about $17.00. raina threw up multiple times on the way cuz the roads were SO fucking windy and she has terrible altitude sickness anyway. she had to thro up in her mouth and swollow it to not puke in the van twice in a row too. fucking gross!! ......then we hiked from the nearesat road which was 10 km, or about 6 miles to the most beautiful town on earth, aguas calientes, which is at the base of maccu picchu mountain. most people take the train for 18 more US dollars from ere. and then instead of paying 18.00 more to take a train to the ruins we hiked up and in stead of paying $50.00 entry fee we just crawled on hands and knees up a vertical wall through the jungle and snuck in for free. in total we saved at least 200 dollars!!!! ....we are not the only ones, it is estimated about 3 people venture through the jungle weekly to see the ruins for free. we may be the only ones crazy enough to take the vertical rock face we took.
nothing in the world but love is free, so savannah almost lost her thumb on the way up grabbing onto something like una liana a jungle vine and had to get stiches. but she haggled with the receptionist/doctor and got the stiches on the spot like an emergency room visit for only 6 soles or about $2.50 usd!!!!! fuck yeah.
then on our way back to the city we hiked the 10 km again this time with much previously aquired leg pain and took a series of buses again. we had to get out at a place where the road washed away from the rain that feel on us while viewing the ruins of maccu picchu and walk over a pedestrian bridge that had been built just a few hours before. whil we were looking for the right price for a van to take us from their to cusco some rich looking guys said something something gratis and gave us 2 free bus tickets with assigned seating in the way back, which is funny cuz raina tried hard the whole way to that point so she woudnt have to as the driver to pull over so she could puke again like she had to on the way up.
nothing is free or perfect but sometimes people get very very lucky!!!!!!!!!!
