Where I stayed
squattin' the panchan

El panchan just out side of the palenque ruins. lots of hippies working hard for their keep entertaining people with fire shows, juggling, playing music and selling the most elegant handy crafted jewelry. people eating mushrooms all day long apparently anyone that pops out of a cowpie and stains blue can be consumed saftely at palenque and that is all these kids here eat mushrooms and pan dolce. i Raina volunteered to help don moses alphabetize his books but i accidentally never went back and left them piled high out of order on the dog bed. 10 dogs. lo ciento moses.
we experienced a terrible rainstorm. i mean awesome!! the water rose around us trapping us in panchan for one whole day. it rose like 3 feet and took over everything everything everything. poured into the cabanas, the dancefloor, our sleeping bags. we had them laundered for 2 dollars. and all our clothes which wont dry if we let them get wet so they smelled like ass and mold and other bad things. we were paid to be extras in a mystical thriller, los ojos azules. loco. but then we were all fired for being hippies. but not before making 350 pesos a day and getting free all you can eat breakfast and lunch and snacks for later too if your sneaky!
but even though it was so fun we stayed for like 5 days we spent the last night huddling in a little concrete shack watching the water flood in paid for with los ojos azules money. yeah lee, that was a trip. and hiding from the staff and smoking ciggarettes when we woke up in the morning and there was no rain only the sound of howler monkies screaming bloody murder directly above us like 30 feets we decided it was a good time to head off for san cristobal and that my friends is the next blog entry short but sweet.
