First we roll into Puebla "the city of angels" in our big van, right when we enter we get pulled over by a motorcycle cop we weren't doing anything wrong except having Alaskan license plates. The two girls that were giving us a ride did purchase insurance but we could not find it in the big messy van. sooooo..
the policia did not speakala english so he called for backup from an amigo who was off duty. we finally pulled up the current documents via correo electronico to prove we didnt steal the van but that wasnt good enough. they wanted a little something something. mi amigo he must call in because he has been here too long an if he do not call in he might get in trouble but if you can just give a little something anything its ok. you know. unless you are uncomfortable with this we can just tow your van and put you in jail and give you a little fine. It's up to you, your choice."I really don't feel comfy so whatever you want to give just something for our troubles." a little something something. so we bribed him. 500 pesos. the english speaking cop spoke with the non english speaking one then he said my friend he say no problem everything ok and the cop left and we were confused so gave the money to his friend and then he gave us his phone number!!! he also gave us a secret code  he said we could give to cops which means we don't have to pay any more bribes for the whole rest of the day wtf?!

After we escaped the cops we parked downtown to meet our couch host for the night, 30 minutes later we returned to the vehicle and both mine and Raina's backpacks were missing with everything we own in them including all our  cash all of it and all of Raina's cards to, incaose you don't understand our sleeping bags bivvy sacks, tarps hammocks toothbrushes sunblock, ropas, tampons, maps, ect ect everything. EVERYTHING except our fanny packs.

we ran around looking for it and the next day we investigated talked to all the shop owners made a police report and watched video surv cameras for hours, but nothing now it's just us with nothing but the clothes on our back and our fanny packs.

(by the way included in our fanny packs were passports )

ps. when youve got nada you got nada to lose.
and we're finally FREE!

however, we are still slightly afraid of freezing and starving to death.

......and we still really really miss all our material posessions
