Where I stayed
2 days no sleep
So we were headed to meteora but we got there too quickly so we went to Athina first we hitched from Novi Sad serbia to Athens greece straight non stop i don't even remember where we slept of if we slept or how long it took but i remember crossing macadonian border at dark and greece at early morning and getting to Athens at dark. Which was suprisingly not like I imagined, i imagined big white rounded building with hot sun and beaches and gyros and olives and baklava. (we did get a man to take us to his family's olive oil making farm and factory.) but it was a huge ass dirty city with gross cold polluted bushes the pictures you see of greece are from the islands the prettier the picture the more expensive it is to get to that island. When we crossed the Greek border and got into greece there were no cars it was empty, doesn't anyone cross the border here?
we walked into a small border town where a couple of dogs came running up to us a brown girl with fluffy long ears Raina names Lajlica and a big white boy wolf dog with blue eyes Savannah claimed and named Thesanolinkano. They were scary at first when they ran up to us but then we realized they were friends we walked around the town and ate figs and grapes from people's yards. They followed us everywhere they led but really they were following us because they kept looking back and making sure we were there they were getting a little annoyed because we walked so slow with our big heavy backpacks, but they figured it was worth it to have two cool members in their pack.
We then walked back to the freeway to hitch out of the middle of no where deserted border town the dogs followed us. Go we told them, sorry but you can't come with us, but they still followed. What are we going to do? No one is going to give us a ride if they think we have two dogs with us. Go now!! Raina yelled at them and the girl got the point, But Thesanolinkano didn't get it. He just came up and kept tryig to sit in our laps and the cars just passed us and he wouldn't leave, and it sucks because he didn't speak english so we couldn't politely explain to him that we needed him to leave so we could get a ride. The only way to do it was rudely so Raina threw Rocks at him. He backed up and looked confused? He thought we were his friends, she threw more. He scampered off.
A car pulled off to the side of the road said something in Greek and then pulled away we looked back and saw Thesanolinkano running twords us he was just hiding in the bushes until we got a ride like boys do sometimes while hitch hiking with girls. I wonder if he scared the car away he does look like a scary big wolf Raina threw rocks at him again. He left, but we found out later he was spying on us from the cliffs behind us we caught him and he tripped and slipped down the cliff a little. poor sad confused doggy. We got a ride finally from a crazy maybe retarded man that told us stay away from the dogs! I'm here to rescue you God told me to save you nobody will pick you up in Greece! and insisted to drive us to our destination even though he wasn't going there we just let him drive us to a better spot then escaped though.
Greece was fine to hitch in even though we were told nobody in Greece will ever pick you up there were plenty of perves willing to pick us up. Greek guys creepy everyone wants something, we did get the most people pulling over in Greece then after they found out we only spoke english pulling away we really wonder what they were saying there was a guy at the border that even started opening his trunk for our bags before we got there but then when he found out we only spoke english he slammed it and sped away, hmmmm I wonder. Everyone else everywhere else picks us up even though we can't communicate.
