We woke up on Sunday to beautiful sunny weather and absolute calm sea outside of South Plaza island. What a great way to start my birthday! Breakfast was at 7am followed by an emergency drill, where we pretty much just had to show up at the main gathering place with our life jackets on.  Then everyone piled into the two dinghies and we headed to South Plaza Island.  As we approached the landing, we were greeted by sea lions, small iguanas and bright red crabs.  We couldn't get over how these animals weren't scared of us at all!  William had to clap his hands a few times and the sea lions moved off of the platform where we landed.  We had a nice walk for a couple of hours, and also saw some frigate birds and gulls.  The weather was really hot but it didn't rain.

After lunch, we transferred to Santa Fe Island and went snorkeling from the dinghy.  We saw yellow-tailed surgeon fish, parrotfish, and others we didn't recognize.  The best part about snorkeling was that we got to swim with sea lions.  They are quite curious and playful, and swam around us quite close!  I clapped my hands under water and one swam towards us just like if you called a dog.  It was definitely the highlight of the day.  After snorkeling we landed on Santa Fe for a short walk.  The island is known for their iguanas, but we only saw 2 or 3 of them.
Later, after dinner, everyone surprised me with a birthday cake, and sang "Happy Birthday" both in English and Spanish.  It was a great way to end the day.
