Internet can be very slow and expensive, so sorry that we haven't made an entry recently. After being in Pursat for ten days now and visited AL the projects and met all the staff we both can say that we are having a good time. Pursat has everything you need, more or less and the people are extremely friendly and (sometimes too) eager to talk to you. We both are cruising on our bicycles to visit the projects, in the villages surrounding Pursat. Clare is setting up an geography/environmental awareness program and is teaching English. Serge is working on the food supplement program and hoping to set up a dental care awareness program. The standard of living in the villages can be very low but it is very good to see that projects like building a well, pass on pig programmes do really work and do make a change. Please visit sustainablecambodia.org if you want more information on what exactly is going on.
Yesterday we visited a party at one of the participating villages, this to celebrate the opening of a new community water pond. There was food, (can tell you: frog tastes like chicken)music (karaoke) and dance. Cambodian people love to dance and use every opportunity to dance. (often to the same song)
The pace of live in Cambodia is very slow, it reminds me of manana, manana. We both have to get used to this, nothing happens quickly and often you have to wait before you receive the information or confirmation you need.
We currently live at the volunteer house, all the volunteers are away for Christmas and new year so we basically have the house for ourselves, there is a girl living in the house who teaches and aswell is being supported by the organization to go to university, she is really nice but gets up at 05.45 am and often returns at 18.00 pm, long days.In general people tend to get up a ridiculous times, like 5 or 6 in the morning. We can stretch it up to 7.
Happy new year to everyone.
our next entry will probably be end of next week (if internet connection is working)

New Year greetings
Pleased you are getting settled in Pursat and that you have been warmly received. The transition to a completely different way and pace of life must take some getting used to but you are obviously adjusting well.We greatly enjoyed the pictures, especially the young children. Hope your volunteering proposals also work out as you want.
