All packed up and downstairs in the Shanghai hotel about 6 am Shanghai time on the 7th (this is 5pm on June 6th in Tulsa).
We took the MagLev (magnetic levitation) to the airport this morning. The highest recorded speed of a Maglev train is 581 kilometers per hour. We went about 300/kmph or 180/mph. This train suspends, guides and propels using magnetic levitation from a very large number of magnets for lift and propulsion. This method has the potential to be faster, quieter and smoother than other transportation sources. With a quick 7 minute ride, we were at the airport and ready to go. The airport was not crowded and we were able to move through quickly. Our first flight was about 13 hours to Detroit. Great flight - the place was only half full so lots of places to stretch out. The boys found a row to play electronics and the girls were bouncing between socializing and sleep. Then after customs and a layover we had a short 2 hour hop from Detroit to Tulsa this afternoon. By the time we made it in to Tulsa it was 5pm - so 24 hours of travel.
We are all exhausted but so, so happy to be home. The kids are putting trip projects together that are due as school projects. I look forward to seeing their perspective on this trip.
Thank you to our families, friends and co-workers who made this trip possible with their support and coverage at home and the office. We have a fabulous trip, learned a ton and made some wonderful memories,
Theresa

thanks for all the hard work with the posts and uploading the photo's. Nice to meet you in person at the airport this afternoon.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Can't tell you how much I appreciate the blog...
I appreciate the notes. I have never blogged before but am so happy that I took my laptop to do this. We did SO much each day that it was really tough to remember it all even by the end of the day. I would have a hard time recalling everything after a two week trip. This was also a great way to "introduce" everyone to our group and stay in contact as connecting via phone or Skype was tough due to the time difference and busy schedules.
Thanks for following us on our journey!!
Theresa
Theresa,
This blog is incredible! You are so talented!! Thank you for the time and effort to do this. I wouldn't have remembered it all and now I can just go back and look at your blog. Love it! Russell
Russell,
Thanks for the note. I am not sure that I got everything 100% correct. My memory is so bad that I even struggled remembering things at the end of each day. I think that I will have to do this for future vacations even if is just for the immediate family as it forces me to document the trip which I never seem to have time to do once I get home. Or I can't remember all of the details or feelings and thoughts that we had at that time.
Hope your transition back to Tulsa time and life is going well. - Theresa
Theresa:
I just read/watched/enjoyed the entire blog today. I knew you worked long and hard each day/night working on it, but it was not until now that I fully appreciated your effort and talent. Thank you so very much for the extreme effort on behalf of all who attended and read from home. UC
