Which is roughly 60km and mostly down hill, Thankfully coz at that altitude the uphill was exhausting.
I went with a company known as gravity, They are the first company and by far the best, in fact when the bikes are not good enough for them, they sell them to the competition.
The instructors where Amazing and bike enthusiasts, and lined you up with everything you needed to do.
Somewhere i read that the road is 3.2 metres wide, Roughly 10 feet, It is, WHEN ITS BIG
Lots of places its just wide enough for a car, maybe 5 feet wide, and due to bolivian law you must drive on the right hand side... IE the side with at times over a 200 meter drop and a short stop.
I Biked during the rainy season just to make things more interesting, from what i understand this is the first year that gravity offered the bike trip during the rainy season because its WAY more dangerious.
To add to the fun it was also snowing at the very top with the high altitude.
Other fun obsticals are other Autos or trucks in a hurry on long halls.
Crazy bolivian drivers.
Aggressive dogs, llamas chickens in the road if you kill a chicken you gotta buy it.
We went through 2 rivers, parts where the rain ate away the road, landslides and then one new river because of a landslide.
The scenery was spectacular the whole time just amazing.
Myself i didnt go insainly fast, coz i figured i didnt wana be one of the 200/300 people a year who die on the road.
One girl crashed 3 times, lucky for her she fell on the right side and not over the cliff, then they put her in the van which follows you down.
At the bottom you get a buffet beer and a shirt that says i survived the worlds most dangerious road.
And this all happens in this really beautiful animal shelter with monkeys and such.
By the time we went up it was already dark, this part was the scariest for me coz all your faith is in someone elses hands, coz you go up in the van biking uphill on that would be imposible.
And just for fun we even had a flat tire.
On a side note i keep meeting canadians, and as crazy as it is on the trip i met 3 people from alberta yesterday while doing the road, Hey wana guess what they do for a living Ha!
well thats my fast lil thing about the worlds most dangerious road, as well the guilds took photos and videos so you dont have to bring your camera, the rain cold and altitude seems to do bad things to electronics. So hopefully today i will go pick up my CD and be able to upload some of the videos and photos. On of the videos even has someone falling
