So this is kinda off topic However i figured iīd share what iīve been learning the past few days iīve been traveling with someone whos been living in El slavador and hes been tellign me about the upcoming elections

So this is the summery Theres a Former gurilla group called the FMLN They are now turned poltical group.

There are elections coming up in march And the polls right now say the FMLN are about 15% ahead of the current right wing govīt.
IN the streets theres a energy like ive never experianced everyones wereing there T shirts
Theres large groups waving there flags trucks full of people done up in there colors waving and honking ITs really amazing to see grass routs democracy upclose.
Not to mention jsu to see people excited about poltics and so passionate

With this the Govt which not long ago waged a bloody war against its people, has unleased its own propaganda machine they are taking out commerical adds that say stuff like i hate freedom and then putting the FMLN tag at the end.

As well 6 young poltical activists have been asasinated in a fashion resembling the death squads of the past a van would roll up open its doors and just unload on whoever was unlucky enough to be caught in its way.

So now with both sides super passionate There is also some fear that Some of the left and right may take to arms Because the elections are always super controversial and if the FMLN were to lose despite a massive lead it could spark acusations of fraud.

Lastly an important factor is the Current Govīt receives a lot of AID money and the people recieve lots of remittance from Salvadorians living abroad in countries like The states and canada, there is fear that if the FLMN wins that may anger the states and they may lose lots of there much needed financial suport for social programs and such.
As well the currenct govīt has been tryign to link the FLMN to hugo chavez of venuzuela but no one knows how closely linked they truely are.

anyways thats my best shot of trying to explain what took me a while to learn and write it down in 20 min so im sure theres many errors anyways its very interesting times down here as it seems more of latin america leans to the left 40 years of opression continues but the people still are pushing there basic rights other areas of the world have taken for granted.

Thats all Cheers
