Flag of Belgium  , Antwerpen,
Thursday, February 11, 2010

so just like that i am now in Antwerp, it is really cold outside and i am looking forward to the day the sun and i meet again oh how it will be glorious!

This morning i woke up early again enjoyed a great breakfast including bananas and oranges and then took for a wonder around town before i had to check out and would  be stuck with all my bags.

the city is really scenic the central plaza sort of area is amazing it really blew me away!
so thats 2 things in Brussels that really caught me by surprise the massive train station and the incredible central area and buildings.

Antwerp
so i found my way to Antwerp fairly easily one thing that surprised me was that on the train there are no English announcement and the tickets are all in french or dutch, yeah i know your going to say stupid gringo you cant expect the whole world to speak your language and i understand that however even in Korea the train announces in English and i figured with the amount of tourists a place this beautiful must receive..

Luckily for this gringo i  have some background in German Spanish and Portuguese which between all of them i could understand more then enough to figure out when i needed to get on and off etc...

Mcdonalds... Where smiles and wifi are free However bathrooms and electricity are not.
So i gotta admit i been enjoying lots of mcdonalds tea lately just for the fact that they offer free wifi which is nice and usually a free bathroom, however today there was a rather large woman sitting outside the batroom enjoying a big mac who when i came out pointed to a sign and ask i pay her 40 cents, what a great job to just sit around eating all day and people pay you!

these days coz my laptop battery only lasts 1 hours and i have more then that  to wait for my friend i always scan the room for a power plug and then sit next to it.
today was no different, i sat down prepared my tea tuned on my laptop and plugged into the power to my surprise a different lady came over saying something in French and pointing to my plug.
i asked her what was wrong and she then said in English "wifi free electricity is not"

Now by no way am i trying to complain about this and i am very grateful they offer free wifi at all, its just a new experience thus  i am writing about it.

overall Belgium is very beautiful and has a great feel to it, its a shame its so cold and It is difficult for me to fully take advantage of my time here (after a few hours i get pretty cold and start to look somewhere warm to hang out for a bit.

I'll admit i am getting excited for turkey in 10 days I'm really hoping i can catch some decent weather finally as i hasn't seen the sun in what seems like ages.

as well as most people should know i am really cheap, i can't help it i just hate wasting money it really bugs me i work too darn hard to waste it so with this as amazing as western Europe is I am probably too cheap of a person to fully enjoy it.

I've relearned that i still prefer and enjoy myself most when travelling to less developed destinations and warmer destinations. There is just something about seeing someone on the motto next to you with a goat strapped to it while your on your way to the beach that just spells a good day.

I'm lookin forward to making the most out of the rest of my time in western Europe today i will meet up with my friend bart and meet the local CS comunitiy tomorrow hopefully my friend Elin from Singapore will be coming to visit, and then i head to Rotterdam for carnival dutch styles with my friend there!
then amsterdam to check out the hype and final stop berlin before flyin to istanbul!
