It's Sunday in Stockholm and even though it's normally the quiet day, compared to yesterday when it was a national holiday, Gamla Stan was bustling! We got up somewhat early and had a nice buffet lunch in our hotel: eggs, sausages, bacon, beans in tomato sauce, sauteed mushrooms, Swedish meatballs, cold cuts, salad bar, jams, many different breads and cheeses. We then headed out to take some photos of Stockholm - mainly the places we walked through yesterday with M&M :)

We first walked toward Gamla Stan and once again down Västerlånggatan. Unfortunately, we were too full from breakfast to have ice cream again! Something we intend to save room for tomorrow of course ;) It was a very pleasant walk with lots of other tourists strolling along with us and beautiful, sunny skies above. We stopped at several shops and bought a couple souvenirs, including this one really cool hand printed moose t-shirt for Robert. Afterward, we hung out at the harbor again for a few minutes and watched some boats go by, and then headed back down 'big new street' to get some lunch. When walking around yesterday, we noticed a vegetarian buffet so we decided to catch up on our vegetable intake and eat there. It was also well spoken of in a guidebook we scanned. We had a very nice meal of lasagna and 3 different types of salads as well as freshly baked, homemade bread. I wish we had room left to try the curry but we simply couldn't take another bite. Even though it was vegetarian and all you can eat, we each only managed one plateful. Doh!

After lunch, we made our way back to the hotel via some more shops and photo opps. Once at the hotel, we were lured into trying out the Swedish sauna which wasn't as exciting as one would think but I guess good for our bodies. It did however make us late for our dinner at grandma's so we rushed through showers, changing of clothes and trained our way to Kungsholmen. We once again had the pleasure of Martin's family's hospitality as we joined his mom's side of the family for a nice smorgasbord in his grandmother's very nice downtown apartment. We also got to meet Martin's aunts and uncles and cousin who were all very nice. A lovely evening was had by all - with the exception of the disappointing football game England played against Germany - so sad :(

Next, what was left of us Americans (many had taken off at this point to other parts of Europe) went back to The Liffey in Gamla Stan to watch the Argentina - Mexico game. Wow that was an exciting game! So many spectacular shots on goal and Argentinean goals. So cool to watch! Afterward, it was time to say our goodbyes as we all headed our separate ways. We're off to Italy tomorrow to stay with Gianna - yay, cannot wait!!
