We woke up and again watched the sun rise over the Med, I don't think I will ever get bored of that, the sky was the most glorious red, orange and yellow and against the clouds it was very dramatic.
We left by 9:30hrs and bid our German camp Auldwiedasan and headed north to a gas station! We were really struggling to find any petrol stations in Spain that sell LPG and as our heating, cooker and fridge all run off it we were getting slightly worried about the next few days (we last filled up in Portugal!) The book (our bible!) of aires we have give co-ordinates to about 10 stations in the whole of Spain one of which (that could cope with large vehicles) was situated just outside Alicante so that was to be our first port of call!
The drive towards Alicante was again through the mountains and everyday I love them more! I'm really struggling with whether I love the sea or the mountains more!! The mountains just look so awesome against the blue of the sky and with the sun on them you can see every nock and crannie and the shape of them, everyone different and each as spectatular as the other, there are even a few that look like pyramids! The camera has never worked so hard but as the pictures were all taken through the window as we were driving along I'm not sure they will really capture the moment!!
We found the station easily and followed two other English motorhomes in and started queueing! Behind us another couple of English motorhomes pulled in (I think we all have the same book!!) It became like a mothers meeting around the pumps! Everyone was very keen to let us know about some great sites they had been to and we promptly marked them on the maps and in the books some we knew about but some will be very handy! So not only did we manage to ensure we have heating, cooling and hot food for the next month or so but we also managed to have some fun conversations and get some very handy tips! Who'd have thought it from a gas station!
We carried on our way towards Benidorm, Rosa had told us it would be like seeing New York as we drove towards it and she wasn't wrong! It is high rise city! Luckily the aire we were heading to was in a little place outside of Benidorm, Alfas del Pi. We arrived at lunch time only to find the site full - not so lucky! On our way to this aire we had spotted, just down the road signs to a campsite that had been recommended to us by Ollie and Greta our Danish friends Who we met at both Nazare and Turiscampo so we decided to head to there instead.
Luckily they had spaces and we parked up in what I would describe as a housing estate for motorhomes/caravans! It is clean, has walkways all lit up with lights, lots of toilet blocks with washing facilities, indoor pool, outdoor pool, mini golf, tennis, gym, resturant, shop, bar everything you need - except soul! Some of the units here are hugh. I felt like alice when she had shrunk walking around the site in places! Obviously alot of them are permenent pitches but you really are on top of one another with no real bounderies. There are no grassed areas or trees or bushes, it is a concrete, stoney jungle and the wi-fi is not working!!!! But getting over that, it has got an indoor pool so after discovery time we all went for a swim and jacuzzi!
It's now 10pm, the boys are asleep, we're upto date with the washing (thanks to widow twanky Nick) just got to hope for good weather tomorrow to get it all dry and we're now relaxing with a glass of wine playing the Wii listening to the boys snoring, so sweet!!
