Show trip route
After we had Brunch, Carole drove us across town to Johns tiny house, you should see the place not even room to swing a cat (go through the photos and you'll see what im talking about).
We spent the day chilling out in the house, until Tyler (his girlfriend Mollie - such a dote) and Tate (and his hottie gal pal Katie) went for the Tex Mex. We couldnt go a whole day in Texas without sampling the Tex Mex.
We've been here in Austin about 8 days now so we have done so much fun stuff, as well as drinking a whole lot (John hasnt lost his Irish Roots) and eating so in a quick run down here it goes;
Monday - slept off the horrible bus journey, and chilled out in the house, in the evening, John came home, "forced" me to drink beer and then we went downtown where i had the nicest Burger ever. Not in Texas, or Ireland but ever. So if you guys ever come to Austin check out Hutts its the business.
Tuesday - John let us have his Monster Truck (which we still have and are not looking forward to the day we leave and we have to hand it back) so we cruised around getting a feel for things. Went to Wal Mart and Bought a phone for $10, because we could and the fact that we needed to be able to call people so it was the easy and cheapest option. Then came home and John introduced me to my new favourite drink. A PALOMA. A mexican cocktail, made from Tequilla, Fresh Lime Juice and Fresca. Cant even describe Fresca because we dont get it at home. But Palomas the most amazing thing every. After the Paloma me, Sein, John and Lisa went for Sushi, i chickened out and had the beef broccoli was still nice. Home for more Palomas.
Wednesday - Slight Paloma hangover so spent the day relaxing and cruised around again, in the Monster Truck, went down to the Mall and looked around the shops. We then had mid week Happy Hour (which doesnt usually happen) and met Johns friend Jim down in the local for one or maybe two beers. Its the only way to go. Drink Beer all the time. When the Coronas are 3 dollars thats all you want to do. We then had to come home and eat Steak. I know T Bone Steak on Wednesday evening for dinnner. I dont know how my life goes on.
Thursday - Another cruising day, chilling out in the Monster Truck. Again because we can!!! Some time was also spent in the day, eating, relaxing and planning further activities. Tate came over then and we had dinner and sat around and chatted.
Friday - Well Fri-DAY was spent at the Mall (i think) but Friday Night...... well thats a good one. We met Jim and his lovely wife Karla for the Real Happy Hour (Wednesday was just a once off) and had some beers. Then after wards we went to Johns friends house Ken for an extended Happy Hour. You'll see from the pics he knows how to throw a party, Sein smoked Big Cigars with his Uncle which he was well pleased about me on the other hand got up to speed on Cultural Drinking with Mohitios and Kens Special Martini. Some dancing some singing a lot of talking........ and you know........
Saturday - DYING..... i may have had a slight hangover, John had the ultimate hangover cure, Big Greasy Breakfast, and it worked, Eggs Benedict Mexican Style, cant go wrong. Home changed, back to Mall again, then onwards to the Oasis Bar to see the most fab Texan Sunset over the lake. Home again, Pasta more beer and then bed.
Sunday - Shopping with Mollie, i bought myself an Original Leather pair of Cowboy Boots the bizz, while the boys stayed at home and watched football. A little thing they have being doing most of the week but is not important enough to mention, because im doing the blog and not Sein. Afters we had a fantastic meal at Caroles Mansion. The food and wine was lovely, but man see the house. I didnt get pics but ill be back to get some. Early night because the fun starts tomorrow.
Monday - Got in the Monster Truck and drove to Dallas. Yeppppp Dallas. Went and visited the South Fork Ranch where Dallas was made. And then for a bit of History down town to the John F Kennedy Mueseum. Amazing its right up where Lee Harvey Oswald shot him. On the 6th Floor of the Book Depoistary Building in Dallas Texas. Another thing that if you are ever in the area you should make it there. Home again. Bed.
Tuesday - If your reading this right now then you are up to speed. Today we went to San Antonio and saw the Alamo and did the River walk. Fab town. Loads of History too. We even managed to stop off to do a bit of Shopping where Sein purchased half of a Tommy Hilfger Shop. Thats all the fun to date so far. But as i said we still have another 6/7 days and ill be documentiing them soon. So come back and check it out.
Okay so im back to document the rest of our stay
Wednesday - was yet another lazy day. We took it easy because we were tired after San Antonio, John arrived home from his business trip on Wednesday so we had a night cap with him and then off to bed.
Thursday - Well because it was the middle of November what better way than to spend the day on the lake on the Boat and a few beers. It was deadly. Just got to cruise around in the boat, and drink beers and enjoy the good weather, that was Thursday afternoon but i think you'll see from the pics that the highlight of the day was that we went to a place called Bone Daddys, which has way better food and hotter women then Hooters. Sein also lied to the our hot waiter and told her that it was his birthday thinking that he was going to get lucky, but unfortunately he had to settle for a picture with all of the hot waitresses. Seins fav is one on his left with the pink jewellery, but you guys can all pick for yourself.
Friday - We went to Dinner in the Olive Garden, with Lisa, John and the kids. I had the best Lasange. Really good. After that we mossied on down to Tylers for beer festivities. I didnt join in because i was designated dessie driving the monster truck. Mollie (tylers gal) took some pics of the goings on down there so you'll have to wait till i get them to see all the fun that was had.
Saturday - We went to Breakfast, same place as last week and i had the eggs again. Some shopping and then we got ready to head for dinner with Ken (the martini maker) his girlfriend Joyce, John and Lisa. We went down to a very fancy restaurant called THREE forks. Fab dinner and drinks. Then when we had indulged in enough food and drink, we went and had donuts in Kens Old Donut Shop (which he owned before he became a top attorney) and then we went to his office where i scabbed some of his very special t- shirts (you'll see John advertising one on the boat). After that we had to make an Apperance on 6th Street. Because a trip to Austin is not the same unless you go to 6th Street.
Sunday - Was Barbie Day. We went to the shops got some wine and beer, and burgers and brats and threw them all on the grill and all of us had a barbie. Carol and Mike was there too but i didnt manage to get a pic of them because i was too busy yapping of course. Great night.
Monday - Was spent hungover from the previous night barbie. Managed to move ro drag myself out to dinner with Karla and Jim to say farewell. Relaxing Night and then off to bed.
Tuesday - Today is our final day. Went down town to take some pics of the Capitol Building. Have to have some sights. Packing. Finishing stuff on the net and then its on a bus and off to New Orleans. It was the quickest 16 days i have ever had. Can you believe the Texas Trip is over. But on wards and upwards. More exploring to do.
We may not have any more internet access as we'll be on the move. So if we dont up date it sorry. We'll make sure and do it as soon as we can.
Bon Vovage for Now.......
