I have been really busy and haven't had a chance to post lately so this is going to be a long one. Friday night we went back to the school for a talent show they were putting on. They reserved the whole second and third rows for us and when we walked into the auditorium it was full of Chinese kids saying hello, you felt like a celebrity when you walked in they were taking pictures of us and even asking for our autographs. Then once we all sat down the Chinese teachers were announced and came in one by one and sat down. The talent show itself was pretty cool, some kids sang, one rapped another played the violin and another the Dizi (Chinese flute). A couple of the teachers even participated, the principal did calligraphy and one of the other teachers did a magic show. Half way through the talent show our liason comes over and more or less says we must perform. So 6 or 7 of the World Teach volunteers got up and sung Over The Rainbow, luckily they had enough people that I didn't have to go. After the show I went back to the room and went to bed. On Saturday we had orientation and didn't finish till 5:30pm, usually we are out of there at 4pm. Everyday during orientation we have Chinese class, they broke the classes into groups of about 10 based on your knowledge level of Chinese. Our teacher Dana invited us for dinner and we all went out. The restaurant was pretty fancy and the cuisine was from the Northwest region of China. It has a middle eastern influence so most of the dishes used cumin. Their were skewers of meat and jasmine tea. After dinner the group was supposed to go get foot massages but the bar we were meeting at after dinner was a block away and the massages were all the way back near the hotel, so we went to the bar. It was called Folk Bar, they had pictures of all classic rock musicians. they even had a couple guys get up and sing a couple of sets. Some songs were in English and others in Chinese, but either way you could tell exactly what the song was. After that bar we went to two others, in all there were probably about 35 to 40 of us that went out. One of the bars is owned by an American named Ben, he was closed but he opened up just for us. Enjoy the pics and the videos. Oh yeah yesterday we did Kung Fu too.

Sat night
sounds like a great time. What time do you have to start or get up on a weekday morning? What is the weather like? We are to have our first day of 90 degree temps here today. We've had a cool summer so far. Aunt Linda :)
