Of course, we didn't find the original shop, even, until technically we were done and going to lunch
After lunch, we had to decide, and all I know is that by the time Jay had to do the back and forth thing with the bugs my feet hurt so much! But still he drags me all over Venice to go see the other one "one more time." He did end up buying the one he first saw in the original store, but not after a bizarre exchange where she charged us one price, but when we were in the store the first time, she'd used the calculator to show us the number (didn't say it in English or Italian) and then charged us 10 euro more when we went back. After a very bizarre English-Italian exchange, she re-rang the transaction at the original price. Funny how people not speaking the same language can communicate so well.
So what makes Jay drag me all over Venice for a piece of glass work? Mostly, his inherent insanity, but also, this glass beetle, you can't TELL that it's glass. The lampwork on it is so very good, and each part of the bug is formed very well, and it really looks real. I must admit, while it's a large bug, it's a very beautiful bug and I can see why he likes it so much. It's also so delicate, it's sold in a glass shadowbox. It's already mounted and framed.
