Today I met Rob, Brent and Ren at around 10am and arranged a taxi to take us to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens which is on the far side at the base of Table Mountain. From the gardens you can gain access to the toughest hiking trail up Table Mountain called Skeleton Gorge trail. We walked around the gardens for a while and then headed up the trail. It was really steep and for parts of the hike we had to climb ladders. When we reached the top we walked around and found some reservoirs and hiked for about 2 hours before starting our 1 hour hike to the north of the table top to catch the cable car down. It was gorgeous and as we climbed higher we could see the Cape and the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. We hiked for around 6 hours total and covered over 8 miles. At the top we ate and rested for a bit and then took the cable car down to the city. Pictures will do this post much more justice than my words so check them out (when I get a chance to post them).
