Puerto Montt is a cool, authentic port town in Patagonian Chile and basically the last stop before the southern tip of Chile.  I booked the Navimag ferry for a four day cruise through the Chilean fjords and spent a day eating seafood, buying seasickness pills, wine to smuggle onto the ferry, and kicking around the port and the fish market.
