After leaving Townsville and still heading south Mum and I discussed what we should do next. I had seen an ad for a cruise out to the Great Barrier Reef and Mum thought it was a great plan. We called a couple different companies and decided to go with the Cruise Whitsundays. We drove to Airlie Beach where the cruises leave from and found ourselves an RV park for the night. It seemed to be the happening place as everyone who stayed here was in there 20's and the parties went through the night, too bad for us that we had to wake up at 6am to get on the Cruise.
We got picked up bright and early and only a 5 min drive brought us to the Harbour. The crew was super nice and there were almost as many crew people as passengers ha ha. The boat was less than 6 months old and was pretty awesome. We met some people from Melbourne and exchanged stories for most of the cruise into the Reef pontoon. Once there I got to go on an hour Scuba Dive with an instructor from South Africa who was a great guy. I bought an underwater Camera and filled it up quite quickly. I can hardly wait to get the film developed. After the dive I convinced Mum to go snorkeling with me and after getting her into a nice comfy life jacket we took to the water ha ha. Time flew and next thing you know we were back in Airlie Beach. I was supposed to get into a game in Mackay at 7:30pm but we didn't get back to Airlie until 6:30 and it was a 2 hour drive, so we just slowly made out way back to Graham's house in Mackay to crash for the night.
The next day we got up and got ready and headed south again. I started to really feel under the weather and so we made the decision to head all the way for Brisbane. 7 or 8 hours later we arrived at George's house. By this point I was very ill and Mum and George went and got the best drugs they could find me at the Chemists. The next 2 days for me was a lot of lying around drugged up on cough meds watching Rugby. The worst part was, that it was the weekend and I had promised my friends in Brisbane that next time I was down on a weekend we would go party! On Monday I felt a little more alive and decided to get into a roller hockey game on the other side of the city. After getting lost and frustrated with driving a big RV in 5pm traffic we stopped someone on the street and got the directions we needed. It turns out that one of the Guys I went to Perth with last time I was here was on the team that I played for. It was great to catch up and now we got our emails exchanged. Playing hockey for 2 hours after lying around for 2 days was enough to give me a nice migraine. We made it back to George's house and crashed for the night.
Today we left Brisbane and started heading south as we will be for a while now. We drove for 6 hours and arrived back at Uncle Peter's house. I was still feeling very ill so I just stayed in the RV and went to bed early.
The next day we drove another great distance to The Entrance which is just south of Newcastle. Not much to report besides paying $1.45 a liter for Diesel! This is where I am typing this blog now. I am super drained still and my headache has returned, so I will leave it here as I go pass out.
