After dropping Faye at the airport i left for the bus station. unfortunately i arrived to find the bus to recife sold out and no others leaving till the next day. i sat down with my guidebook and decided to head for natal. a smallish city on the coast about half way between
Fortaleza and Recife. i arrived in the early morning just as the sun was coming up. i got a taxi into town n after waking up the lady at the hostel found out where i intended to stay was booked out. Since my luck seemed to be on such a high and since it was an exceptionally pleasant time of the day to be walking around with a backpack i popped to the pousada next door and got a room.
Natal was a nice city, with a gorgeous beach. the locals seem devoted to the beach and surfing is a major thing. the beach is very tidal though and at times only tiny stretches remain. maybe it was the upset stomach or faye leavin but wasnt really up to much other than catchin up on my brazilian soaps. the little exploring i did do was down the beach to the star shaped fort and then back by some markets.(it actually started as a trip to find toilet paper. probably deserved more time than i gave it as i got the bus to recife after 2 nights.
