Visited the falls after arriving into the city last night. We visited the falls today, absolutely breathtaking views that exceeded our every expectation. after we got off the bus at the falls we trekked through the forest until we caught our 1st glimpse of the falls. we were greeted on our way by friendly and curious coati mundi( something between a cat and a racoon) that tried to eat Sean!!! (tiny exaggeration)

The further we went along the river the more impressive the views were. huge volumes of water dropping over giant cliffs with a ferocious roar. the final view was unreal, a canyon enveloped in water crashing, plunging and plummeting over the side to create an impressive set of rapids at its base. the scenery was incredible, a backdrop of forest, hard jutting rocks contrasting with the fast falling water. the water at the top of the falls was calm and easy but turned into a fierce monster below. to add to the exotic view huge flocks of black eagles/vultures were circling above.

after the falls we visited the largest bird park in S America. with walk in cages we saw toucans, macaws, huge emus and the tiniest hummingbirds. along with the countless birds there were caimans, anacondas, boa constrictors, turtles, walk in butterfly cages where you could see caterpillars cocooning too. really enjoyed that visit even with our close encounter in the macaw cage( only cage with an enter at own risk sign) when a flock of 10 macaws(BIG parrots) flew at us, just skimming our heads. also enjoyable was faye putting her hand on a giant ant and holding tame macaws(aswell as the countless poking of birds done by a nameless party). (this nameless party actually thinks she was quite brave for that)

went for dinner in an all you can eat restuarant. very tasty, i had the barbaqued meat option(3 euro) and faye sampled the local vegatarian options(which were limited), the meat was gorgeous, it was cooked over a fire on a sword and then the waiter brought it too the table and sliced it onto the plate, and this continued for the meal with differnt meats. also in sampling local cuisine we can across the ultimate sour fruit, maracuja, it was like all the sourest penny sweets combined. a unique taste

Amazing
Loved what you had to say about the falls. I also thought they were just unbelievable. Both hypnotic and frightening at the same time. Hope all keeps going well.
