Woken from a great sleep at 4am by a 10min ear deafening call to prayer it possibly wasn't the best start to the day, but i can't say unexpected.

Heading East to the town of Pamukkale, for the first time Blanche was packed to the brim having picked up an additional two Canadian crew for the ride. It was slightly disappointing that we didn't have to strap anything to the roof with good ol Blanche yet again surprising us with her cavernous interior (granted you couldn't see anything out the back window through the piled high backpacks, all good though).

Whilst the drive was nothing remarkable (besides being far quicker then what we had estimated), I'm not sure if the Aussie hip hop being blasted through the car was universally enjoyed, (nothing like a bit of the Hilltop Hoods though).

Straight through in 4hrs, Pamukkale's claim to fame is its calcite pools and cliffs leading up to the ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis. Temps up at the 35 mark and with a line of people heading up the brutally white cliffs we decided chilling for a bit around the hotel pool before giving it a crack was a far better option.

Kicking off at the Hierapolis ruins, by far they were the biggest we had seen so far. I can definitely vouch that they did a good tomb back in the day and weren't bad with the old amphitheater either.

So given the sun was still vicious, the option to spend an additional 25 Lira each (10 Euro) to swim in a 36 degree spa around some submerged remains didn't seem like the unforgettable experience it was pegged as. Instead option B, a quiet splash in one of the numerous calcium pools on the way down the cliffs was a better proposition. Now I'm sure there's nothing like the health benefits of coating yourself in the white calcified mud as a lot of other visitors embraced, but I'm wondering if a glass of milk would do the same job?

Back in town and a first for dinner, we agreed that we had both never haggled so much for the price of a feed. I think we did pretty well, a few lira off a pide, a free beer each and any additional beers at half price, this restaurant haggling could be a good idea.
