I had a childhood dream that i've had as long as i can remember, and that was to skydive, it was not something i thought to much about, but it popped into my mind from time to time, however i never thought i would get around to do it.
The summer 2012 changed my life! - i was at work, having a 2 weeks vacation coming up and i was just browsing websites in hopes of finding something cool i could do in my Summer vacation (not travel related). I stumbled upon skydiving and i was hyped right from the moment the thought hit my mind... this was it, i was gonna do it! - perfect time, i called the skydive company asap and had a time and a date booked
The skydiving place, was really close to where i lived, we drove out there, with family and friends. When we got out there then we followed the instructions and so on, signed the paper that said "you can die from this!" and so on, yada yada yada. When i got into the plane that's where i really knew, its gonna happened there is no way back, my mind was on drugs kinda it felt like it was gonna blow anytime soon. We flew up and up... and oh my, 4km up is waaaay higher then you might think, a instructor pointed over at another peace of land that was separated by water and said "see, that's Sweden".
When it was time, the door got removed and i hanging in my instructor out the plane. It was like, my brain was 1 big red alert light just going "TURN AROUND, DON'T DO THIS, IT'S INSANE".
2 seconds later we jumped out, it was the most amazing rush, it felt like my body was gonna explode. After the initial take off, then when we got stable and i could figure out what was up and down that was amazing, just racing toward the ground but you're free like a bird, its a feeling that i can't describe something that has to be experienced and i sure will do it again.
When i got to the ground (one way or another you will) then i think my brain was fried, i was exhausted and really tired. I've got told it because of the huge amount of adrenalin my body was releasing.
It took me a long time to really absorb the feeling and understand what i did, however it was simply just amazing. Since that day then I've been determent to try something else and get more amazing experiences, so a month later i started looking into another experience.... Backpacking! - it was perfect, it was all about experiences and being free, just what i wanted.
Tell about YOUR turning point, if you have had one yet? - maybe you're still looking for it?
What made you take the leap and go for it? both in traveling and skydiving. I would love to hear from you. :)
