So after a nap I was slightly refreshed and the day was cooling moderately so putting on my suit wasn't a sweatfest. The ATM in the lobby worked with my MasterCard and the nearest Tim Horton's had a drive-thru, so things were looking up for my pathetic fucking life. Got a chicken salad sandwich, chocolate dipped donut, and a can of 7up. But I was worried about reaching the theater on time, so I decided to eat after I got there.

On my drive from the airport I learned that street names were as important as route numbers, but I still managed to get off the track once. The signage sucks around here, and the Mapquest coverage of here sucks too. At least being directed through downtown instead of to the city bypass allowed me to get a view of the food offerings. Burger King - barf. Mickey Ds - barf. KFC - mayhap. Swiss
Chalet - Mike loves that place. Wendy's Wendy's Wendy's - mmm. A&W - mmm. Tim Horton's - double yum. Local places - better ask a local.

Eventually I make it out to Hwy 3 where I can barrel along at a mind numbing 100kph (whoo!) The driving around here would be awesome if one could go like a bat out of hell, like in Germany. Arrive Georgetown 1830ish. Enjoy my sandwich immensely. Wander around the theater getting photos and such. Then the moment we've all been waiting years for - ON WITH THE SHOW!

Leo's in the back setting up a camera, so I have a chance to say "howdy" before the madness. Christopher ventures in a few minutes later, and he's seated next to me. The doors close. After a brief circle jerk by the local illuminati, the show finally begins.

The music and lighting is fantastic. Young Maud is fantastic. The video backdrops are fantastic. The show continues. 1 hr. 1.25 hrs. 1.5 hrs. Getting awful hot in the theater. Ingenue Maud is very good. 1.75 hrs. The introductory view of Anne is huge, and should be the point where intermission begins. Did they skip the intermission? Is it almost over? Can it get any hotter? Getting sleeeepy... 2 hrs. intermission! Oh crap, this is gonna be long.

Stepping out of the theater into the fog is like being born...broiling hot to freezy cold with a single push. Everybody else is immensely relieved too. I'm glad it wasn't just me. The evening air has chilled my 7up nicely. Eavesdropping in on thecrowd, word of mouth is comfortingly strong. Apparently I'm enjoying it the least, which is good, cuz even though I'm uncomfortable and exhausted, I'm definitely not bored, unentertained or unimpressed.

Back to the sauna, but thankfully it has cooled considerably. The sudden appearance of older Maud is a little jarring, but she's fantastic nonetheless. Ewan is increasingly impressive. Part two is considerably darker in tone, just as long as the first half, and has what are taken to be many false endings. Still there's no denying that an epic hasbeen pulled off here. The lights come up and it's flowers all around. Mike makes me immensely proud yet again.

But there's no way I'm going to survive the afterparty. I'll be happy just to make it back to Charlottetown safely. So after a few minutes of visiting I'm off into the night. Found out later from Christopher that the afterparty went til 3am. Dayum!
