So we limped into Vegas, and found the Chevron the guy in Enterprise directed us to. We were just south of the Tropicana, and in those days the strip wasn't anything like it is now.
Turned out our radiator was shot. Completely split when they tried to rod it out, so we were definitely stuck in Vegas overnight. We ended up at some fleabag hotel that doesn't even exist anymore at an outrageous price for the time, which ended up being a major chunk of our cash. Later Brady's mom tried to put the room on her credit card so we could get our cash back, but the desk lady wouldn't do it. Great service. Hell, great humanitarianism.
It was hot as hell, money was tight, we'd gotten into Brady's bottle of vodka and the girls were really starting to get on our nerves. We thought we'd be clever and find an all you can eat dinner so we walked up to Ceasar's Palace. Then Michelle decided she wanted to order off the menu instead, getting some $40 seafood entree while the rest of us had the $6.99 buffet. Brady was about to kill her!
We got back to the hotel and I remember seeing Paul Simon with Ladysmith Black Mombazzo on Saturday Night Live, in support of the Graceland album.
The next morning the car was ready around 11, then we grabbed a meal at Denny's and hit the road.
