Where I stayed
The road was long and winding and Vikki's breakfast was threatening to make a reappearance (quote "I've got about five minutes left in me"). Just as the clock ran out we pulled into the Geopark complex and Paula paid the driver as Vikki headed for the nearest toilet for a purge. On returning to the lobby to meet up with Paula, Vikki eyes looked a little bloodshot and her face flushed so she gutted to ear that we culdn't get into the room for an hour....we decided to get some fresh ir and explore a little
We could quickly see Sam's point to some extent, the hotel was amidst a Mickey Mouse, papier mache toy town of fish ponds and souvenir shops, and there were no bars! However, there was a duty free shop - woo hoo, a Segway hire kiosk and we were opposite the cable car station to the top of Mount Machincang. We realised there were no bars when we looked around and were faced (or should we say 'eyed') with lots of Burka Dirka Muhammad Jihad's, Paula felt right at home with her bandana and Vikki's liver heaved a sigh of relief.
Back at the lobby we collected our room keys and headed to room 119 at the end of a slighty worn out corridor. The room was basic but overlooked the fish pond where we had earlier fed some very athletic fish some pellets. We relaxed for a while and then headed out to Laila's, an Arabian / Pakistani / Iranian fusion restaurant where Vikki was really mature and wrote on the blackboard "Paula Stinky Chandler" in relation to an earlier toilet deposit.
After some time back at the room chilling out we again ventured out in the evening for a small take-away supper. Paula ordered another soup in a bag and Vikki ordered a vegetarian dish that turned out to have a whole tandoori chicken leg in it. Not to be deterred Paula extracted the brightly coloured limb and squirreled it away in the fridge for breakfast tomorrow. Whilst watching a scary horror movie we ate our greasy supper and planned a strenuous stint by the pool for the next day.
