……. SAND!

Got up and rescued our tent before it blew away! Covered in sand we boarded the truck, knackered from the night before, and headed south through the Namibian desert bound for Naute Dam, our penultimate bush camp.

Along the way Vikki explained to Kelly that she had wanted to record a Christmas message for her as part of her Secret Santa (no so secret then!). When Kelly said her favourite song was Little Donkey, Vikki thought she said Little FROG!!? So the decision was made for Vikki to record an alternative version for the real Christmas.

We stopped off at a small 'settlement' for lunch and to use the very smelly bathrooms, then we hit the road. We arrived at Naute Dam around 5pm after a brief visit to Fish River which was bone dry. And had no fish in it.

We had plenty of time, for once, so we opted to repack our rucksack a day early so that we could enjoy the pool at Felix Unite tomorrow. After baking some jacket potatoes in the fire followed by roasted marshmallows we finished off the Christmas wine, watched the snowboarding DVD - which was about as exciting as one of Alun's short stories....and then hit the sack early.

The bright moon and Southern Cross flooded the tents, prompting us to have a game of inter-tent word association which gave a good laugh until we were tired enough to get to sleep on the hard ground.

Fish River sounds.....underwhelming! Unlike Paula's new eyebrows, which could start a whole new fashion trend! xxxxx
