Day 69! Woo hoo! What a milestone!

And what a way to wake up - ensconced in white sheets with the sun rising over the ocean outside our windows and the sound of the sea - refreshed from the comfortable sleeping hours gained during the night! No howling wind, no footsteps, just down clean softness...ahhhh! It felt like Christmas morning...

We got up and sorted through our disgusting bag of stinking clothes to send them to the laundry. We called our new friend Peter to arrange for an unlicensed cab to collect us and drop us of at Amonpuri Lodge Hostel where we pretended we were guests to get our washing done for 1/3 of the price that our hotel was charging!

Once we had off-loaded our stinky burden we walked into town to explore Swako and the quaint Afro-Germanic architecture. We chose The Fish Deli for food and had a wonderful brunch of fish soup, crumbed prawns and hake fillet. Yum!

Walking along the beach, the sea was wild and had washed up two dead seals much to Vikki's disgust. Paula chose this moment to scare Vikki with a large mussel shell - how we laughed!

We walked along the jetty to the restaurant at the end of the pier which, from a distance, looked like an old tarpaulin! When we got there it had transformed into an amazingly modern restaurant with opaque floor tiles echoing the sea below and we stumbled upon the foursome who were half way through a bottle of bubbly! Great minds...we joined them on the pier terrace in the sun and ordered our own bottle of the good stuff. We watched seals (live ones this time) playing in the surf and enjoyed the sea-breeze - so happy to be free of the shackles of the truck.

We walked around the quirky shops in town picking up gifts for the Secret Santa planned for our truck alternative Christmas on 25th November and then stumbled across the Village Cafe, complete with it's own VW Campervan and quirky decor, where we sampled another couple of vinos in the sun and made use of the WiFi (realising we have over two weeks worth of the soap opera that is our blog to catch up on...!).

The cafe closed at 5pm so we returned to Hotel Europa Hof to say hi to Peter and his friend Pally after we got some breakfast supplies. We found ourselves in a 'taxi' home with the driver and his wife and had some cheese, crackers and bubbles enjoying a second night of luxury and self-imposed solitude...
