Where I stayed
We had brekky and marvelled at how last nights drama was glossed over as if 23 people hadn't almost had a heart attack. Some people are just not made for Overlanding where consideration should be afforded to your fellow travellers.
We hit the road to Mzuzu after drawing names from a hat to determine who we bought the Bad Taste Party costumes for. Upon arrival at the market we were spoilt for choice with fancy dress disasters; sequined jumpsuits, Dynasty shoulder pads, shimmering frocks and glittering two-pieces. We all made our purchases, bought salad stuff for dinner and arrived at Kande Beach in next to no time as Pete was driving like a man possessed!Kande Beach - what a pleasant surprise. Miles of sandy beaches and the calm warm water of Lake Malawi on our doorstep - and a bar with table football, ping pong, and pool
Vikki reminded me that we had been one of the lucky few to win our stay in a beach Banda and so upgraded fairly cheaply to a chalet by the sea - tucked away in welcoming shade with a wonderful view out over the lake.
We grabbed a beer and Paula did her bit with cook group, preparing a well needed fresh green salad and sweet potato salad. We then undid all that goodness by adjourning to the well stocked, and very reasonably priced, bar to talk rubbish for a couple of hours.
Alun and a guy dressed as a leopard from another truck had a 'big cat face-off' with Alun proclaiming himself 'A tiger..Raaahhh' and then they had an altercation about whether the Australian or British customs were the worst. All a bit weird. After a few more of Aluns stories we became strangely weary and headed off to bed.
