Yet another update on the health situation:-

I won't even begin to bore you (it's already boring me) with the nerve popping out again the other day, dragging me back to square one and then mysteriously popping itself back in again at some point during my codeine-riddled sleep. Basically I've been a dribbling mess, and now I'm living day to day through the constant change of pain location. Yep, it moves. By the day.

All this bullshit has served a purpose though. It's given me time to get my thoughts together, to reflect on those amazing recent experiences, and while I hate to swear so publically like this, dare I say it - I think a 'pl*n' may have slowly started to form. You might not understand just how huge that is for a man of randomness, but all that time spent in the little remote village of Sop Chaek and Pak Xeng has had a profound affect on this short-legged hairy hobo.

Truth is I got more out of being around those amazing people living their beautifully simple primitive life in those four days than I have in a fortnight in many other situations on the road - months and more in my shitty old 9-5 existence. This is no different to that first experience on Kilimanjaro that eventually propelled my arse over the equator to seek out more of the real stuff. I'm talking about the basics here. I'm talking about real life. It's always the simple things. The pl*n actually fits in nicely with the the new and highly exciting 'next phase' (but more on the new and highly exciting 'next phase' later..)

First things first. Priorities. In just a few hours I'll be hopping on another overnight train to Bangkok. My arse is going to hospital. Finally. I'll keep you posted.

..and just as I thought the world couldn't get any smaller..

Met a lad the other night from 'The Nock', my hometown. Those who know the Nock will know just how slim the chances are of two people meeting in an unsuspecting bar in Laos who can both talk for hours on intricate subjects such as Stones, Heath Hayes Park, 'The Bot', The Orbital, Applejacks, 'that kebab place', Sharon Way, and tireless stories involving the more 'classy' slappers of Maymies and Silks. Astounding. Climb on Eddie lad..

I've sat here for hours over the past few days reading this blog. Such an inspiration to all of us who want to do it, but can't (or more likely, don't have the guts). So in a roundabout way, thanks!
