Getting myself out of the mess a second time was a bit more straightforward. I still had to deal with a progress-hindering obnoxious bint but as I now had a 'tow to' address she had no choice but to comply. Two and a half hours later and I was at the Suzuki dealer getting kitted out with a new tread, a chunky $270 for the privilege. Shortly after I rocked up at Fraser Motorcycles in Dianella, handed over the keys, helmet and gear for crating, a chunkier $520 for the privilege and jumped on the nearest bus back into the city. A hectic couple of days all in all.
I spent the night in Fremantle at Scott & Lucy's place. Linda and her mate Leslie made it down for a big farewell before her departure to Hong Kong. We finished up at a fantastic Italian place. Exquisite wine, exquisite food (Osso bucco) and a very exquisite bill.
So with the recent misfortune and mass spending I had to take a bit of action. Couchsurfing was naturally called on and I got myself a comfy bed at a guy called Dhugal's place, for no other reason than his name's Dhugal. I've always wanted to meet someone called Dhugal, almost as much as I've wanted to walk around with a chimp on my shoulders. I've been here at his place the last three nights and have had a great time unwinding and dawdling around Perth taking it all in. Dhugal's your classic stereotypical computer geek, but with a cracking sense of humour and a highly infectious screech of a laugh that splits sides. We had a night in Durty Nelly's Irish bar with some other couchsurfers and had a scream of a time. The guy's a real rare diamond. Bless ya Dhugal, see you at the Hobbit House!
I've got an early start so need to get my head down. Tomorrow I fly to Adelaide. The bikes already in transit and by Monday we'll be re-united. Fingers crossed she'll be in one piece..
