Day Thirty-two: - Albany - Denmark - Walpole - Augusta - Margaret River

Finally made it over to Margaret River (Australia's fine wine country) with a sore arse and a heavily peppered visor. The ride over was a beaut. Aussie and Gap Year followed me out of Albany and joined me for a farewell TED and a pie from the award winning pie shop in Denmark. Once I'd left the outskirts things bloomed in full, the road twisting and undulating through scores of giant forest, a stark change from where I've come from and an absolute pleasure to be able to throw the bike around after all this time. With that hellish crossing of the Nullarbor, the long jaunt over to Perth and the hard ride down through Esperance and Albany, my back tyre was starting to look like a fifty-cent piece. Sacrilege.

I stopped en-route in Walpole, a quiet incidental town home to the famed 'Valley of the Giants', a huge tree top walk, much like the one we did in the Ottway Ranges earlier in the year only better, or so they say. One tree top walk's enough for me so pressing on to Augusta was a no-brainer, and much more my cup of tea to stand on the edge of the continent and watch the Southern and Indian oceans meet. Magic.

The next few days should be good. My old mucker foul-mouthed Linda should be arriving in an hour or so for a 'how d'you do' and a bit of weekend banter involving, I guess, loads of fine wine and fistfuls of cheese. Life on the road can be hard at times..
