...The work thing.
I made it to Queenstown around noon the following morning. After completing a bit of paperwork, signing a couple of serious looking documents and going to court briefly to sign and get signed a formal, legal declaration, I was ready to start. Since then it's been an eye-opening, strenuously absorbing time. I've spent the last four nights with the guy whose job I'm taking over, and he's been showing me the ropes, sort of crash course style.
The job itself is pretty good. It's very interesting, hugely varied and highly responsible. It's probably one of the most serious and responsible jobs I've had, well, where it actually matters anyway. This is something entirely different. This serves and is for the benefit of the community.
Before we started actually doing the job, we discussed the job. It seems that there is a downside. It's the very reason that this guy is leaving. It's also something that personally causes me great concern and on a few occasions over the last four nights I have seriously considered backing out. In short, there are a few risks.
However, after a lot of thought, I've decided to stay put and give it a go. I can always leave and will if I have to, but for now, I'm gonna jump in. There are a few reasons for this; unfortunately none of which I can actually mention at this stage. Like the job itself, for my own personal welfare I cannot say anymore about it. I will at some point, it'll just be when I've left and moved on, well away. I guess all I can say is that there'll be more on all this later.
