I couldn't be happier really under the circumstances. As if things couldn't get any stranger. Yesterday, when I woke there was a very surprising but significant improvement. Was it the fact that I kept the weight of it for a day? Had a good nights sleep? Sinead reversed her minor operation? Or did the foot fairy come and visit me? Towards the end of the day yesterday it had improved tremendously, pretty much back to normal. I could move it up, down and from side to side without too much discomfort. I could put nearly all my weight on it and could poke and prod it around the ligament, again, without too much discomfort. I'm completely baffled but over the moon so I can't complain. It really is the strangest thing.
This morning, though I'm still keeping a little weight off it, it's more or less back to normal - no discomfort, no pain, no problems. The only thing I can think of is that I may have done something to it in my sleep. The other thing that makes more sense is that since the infection of the left foot at the end of November, and considering how long I've been out of action for, I haven't had any proper exercise whatsoever, so I'm guessing that all the old ligaments and tendons 'n' stuff are quite weak at the moment. I'll have to start gearing up for some proper exercise as soon as this is right, cos' I can't have this happen again. There are so many treks and activities I want to do while I'm here, it would just be tragic if I couldn't do anything.
Tomorrow, we're heading back in to the city. I'll be starting the upload of the photos on to the Travelogue from the last few weeks (at long last!), catching up with a few emails and in the afternoon, catching up with the others. Traoine, Chicken and Jen will be around Christchurch for Jen's last day as she flies back home tomorrow night around 7pm. So we'll probably end up having some kind of celebration drink or meal before she goes.
Monica informs me that we are now at the end of 'week one' and have done considerably well against budget having spent not much more than 60% of our weekly Kitty (well done Mon!) So I guess a few celebrations tomorrow night will be more than acceptable!
