The privilege of silence, privacy, flexibility and total freedom is my new domain and after four months of the opposite, I'm in complete bliss.
The transaction went well with Damon yesterday. I drew the balance with the help of Traoine (as Sinead cocked up the pin on her card which ended up being spat out of the ATM) and met Damon at the Post Office to fill in and process the new registration paperwork which was done in five minutes at a fraction of the cost of that being charged by the Backpackers Car Market. All went smoothly and we finally closed the deal - ta very much.
I dropped the girls at the car market mid afternoon where they instantly met their new abode. Unbelievable. A very well designed and looked after Nissan Caravan - huge thing, fantastic, best buy by far, totally uncanny. After a short group meeting and a few head scratches they made an offer which was accepted and we made our way back in to Christchurch to start another series of dodgy ATM transactions. It was my turn to repay the favour so I took particular care in getting the PIN right.
Excellent. Sorted. Tomorrow I pick them up from Base and take them to pick up their new motor and then were rollin' rollin' rollin'. They were so excited, we all were and I'll never forget the huge beamer on Chickens face. This time tomorrow (all being well) they'll be parked on the next pitch. It's amazing how things turn out!
Oh and Alex actually left this morning after finding out (at the last minute) that the Stray bus doesn't run from Christchurch to Kaikoura on a Friday. We were all sat with her outside Base yesterday morning half asleep when she made the enlightening phone call! So she ended up leaving quietly this morning. We've all had some great times and she'll be missed but she's also a toughie and I know she'll be absolutely fine.
So I'm just sat, making a few notes and revelling in the magical comfort of my new, modest little 'vanroom'. It's such a great feeling and there's some brilliant times ahead. As much as I'm lovin' today, I'm already looking forward to tomorrow so for now, all I can do is sit here for a while in my van with my grin!
