Where I stayed
Centabay Lodge
I took a walk across the bay and over to the Treaty grounds in Waitangi today to see more of what I had missed last week. The weather was gorgeous too which was a bonus.
For a modest entrance fee you certainly get a lot for your money. It started with a twenty minute audio/visual presentation about the history and origins of the Treaty, then you get full access to the grounds. They were beautiful and there was a lot of ground to cover too. Apart from the Treaty House there was the war canoe to see, the surrounding forests, coastal walks, the Treaty grounds themselves and of course - the meeting house where I'd been 'warriored' last week.
Some of the views looking out on to the bay were magnificent. I walked round and took it all in for quite a while, took a few pics to cherish, then sat outside at the Waikokopu Cafe for a quick bite looking out over the beautiful bay. Another mental picture I won't forget!
