Where I stayed

It's not really that significant but I just thought I'd share this as it's just superb.

Paihia is a beautiful little village that feels very much like being on holiday. Water activities are in abundance here with many boat trips available, and there are lots of charming little shops, bars and restaurants. It has a warm, small community feel to it and once again everyone is completely friendly.

I moved out of the Pipi Patch yesterday and in to the 'Centabay Lodge' which is over the road from the beach. I'm sharing a room with Dean and Micky. Here's a quick run-down:-

Out of our room and on our floor is the usual bath/toilet/shower facilities with the addition of a small internet area next to a lounge with a settee, comfy bean-bags, TV and a large list of available DVD's. Next to this is a small kitchen area with a couple of handy vending machines. All this is only shared by two rooms so is fairly quiet and private and we can come and go as we please.

Outside, you can either sit out on the balcony or go downstairs and chill out on the deck chairs around the decking area, by the BBQ. If you want to relax even more you can simply walk over to the 'free hot tub', take off the lid and immerse yourself quite nicely in the hot bubbling water. Should you choose to, you can take any of the 'free Kayaks' along with a lifejacket across the road, on to the beach and out on to the bay for a paddle around the islands at your leisure. Alternatively, you can take a 'free bike' and go for a peaceful ride. For something a little more hair-raising, you can even hire the little 50cc scooters for a measly ten bucks an hour (just over three quid) to cover the petrol. It has a large, fully equipped kitchen and lounge area inside too. It's right by the sea and the people here are really friendly. It is just superb. All for a little less than six quid per night. Doesn't seem right does it? Well it is, and I'll be staying for the next week or so cos' I just love it here.

Today was a beautifully hot day. There were no clouds in the sky and and the weather was very calm. I took a Kayak out on to the Bay with Dean and young 'Sebastian' from Germany. We paddled across to Motuarahi Island, continued round Taylors Island, then across to Motumaire Island. We paddled round the back and pulled up on to the shore, had a brief walk round then chilled out on the beach for a while. There was no-one else there and we were completely secluded - the sun was really fierce.

After returning to the lodge for a quick hot tub and shower, we sat out on the balcony soaking up the afternoon sun with a nice bottle of red with Micky and Esther, just before she left for Auckland.

To end the day, Micky and I sat out in the hot-tub this evening looking up at the night sky at the stars above us.

Another great day but I think I've burnt my 'hid'!
