Today is finally the day I return to my homeland, this the official site for the Clan MacLeans on Mull Island. We took the ferry over around noon from Oban to Craignure. Bekah is not a fan of boats so we of course sat outside in fresh, but cold air on top of the boat. But it ended up being okay because we got some great pictures from up there and I earned them because I had to fight the intense wind.
Duart Castle is still occupied by the Clan MacLeans and the Chef of the clan still lives in the castle. It sits on a cliff overlooking the bay and was rebuilt in 1912 for all MacLeans to enjoy. There also is a special signing book for anyone with a certain spelling of MacLean can sign when they attend the castle. Our last name being McLean is one of them and is affiliated with this clan. I took probably too many pictures of the castle but it has some special meaning to me and I the lighting was perfect.
Once we were done with our trip to Duart Castle we left for our guesthouse in Tobermory, which is located at the northern tip of the island. The roads to Tobermory from Craignure are mainly single lane and with many bumps and turns. Bekah was definitely sick by the time we got to Tobermory and hating me for suggesting we stay there. The town sits on the water, it's small, but very colorful and scenic. We had a great night touring the city and enjoying beautiful weather.
