Whistler was a big part of my Canadian experience as I wanted to be a volunteer at krankworx! Now crank worx is a huge downhill, freeride and slalom competition and lasts for around 8 days and it's all situated around the whistler bike park. So I arrive in whistler via the greyhound bus and the place is a wash with downhill bikes and full face helmets basically bike heaven!!!! I wanted to be on the mountain so I signed up for sport crew which is basically a Marshall, the good thing about the sport crew is that you see all the action as you are always track side! My main job was to keep the public out and report any accidents on the radio, pretty easy really. We had many perks as volley's like free food, some free beers and as much monster energy drink you could drink great. After a shift we would always go out for a few beers with the other volleys and when we were not working we got free lift passes for the bike park so me and a few of the volley's would go up the mountain and ride the wicked trails. The main event was the slope style competition which was on the Saturday evening and there was said to be 25,000 people on the village watching the event ! I had  a wicked position to Marshall rite in the middle of  course so I got some amazing shots of tail whips, super mans, suicides you name it they were pullin it, it was an awesome night. The following day was the final event and the night of the volley party which was wicked all tho I didn't win a thing and there were frames, wheels, clothes all I came away with was a cap that didn't fit ahh well never mind we had a top night all the same. I had one day left so decked to head up the mountain all was going well until I made a silly mistake on a berm and lost the back of the bike causing me to stack. I was ok apart from a twinge on my right knee which left me hobbling but seamed to ease after a few days. Whistler was wicked, partying and biking what a combo can't wait till next year.
