Where I stayed
I head down to the one of the local bike shops and hire a trek 6300 hard tail and armed with my trail map i head to the trails which is called sticky woods. It's about 10km along the wanaka river on a cycle/walking route and i find the trails to my left. As i am at the river side i have to climb up a step track but once at the top there is just trail after trail heading off in all directions and a large grin forms on my mush! After a mental day on the trails i head back to town just in time as it starts to rain.
The next day i head up to mount Iron which is a local walk with wicked views of the mountains and wanaka and decide to go to the pictures that night for a change where I had the most bizarre night as i said i went to a local little cinema down the road to see slum dog millionaire and sat next to a group of local people and we got talking. It turned out that the one lady was the boss of Skydive Lake Wanaka and see offered me a big discount off a jump! In true spare of the moment style i said yes and they booked there and then in the interval of the film. ;-0
Skydiving is very weather dependent so when i wake the next day i go straight to the window to check the weather and oh my god it is glorious. To cut a long story short i jumped out of a plane at 15,000 Feet strapped to a bloke with a parachute on!!!!! I can honestly say it is the single most amazing thing i have ever done, the free fall from that height is 60 seconds and what a rush it is. The day was really clear and seeing New Zealand hurtling towards you at 200kph is mind blowing. The adrenaline is crazy for 60 seconds and then when the cute opens you can't hear a pin drop what an experience i can't stop grinning....
