We headed inland to check out the famous Thermal Fields in the Rotorua area. Rotorua, which is nicknamed 'Sulphur City,' has the most energetic thermal activity in the country, with bubbling mud pools, gurgling hot springs, gushing geysers and evil eggy smells hovering around.

Our first stop was Hell's Gate (Scott just couldn't pass up the name), which lived up to its name. Although it was quite pricey ($25NZD a person) it contained some really eerie sights (check out the pictures) and that wonderful sulfur smell.

After tracking down the Green and Blue lakes we drove to the next thermal field (what for it) the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland. It was basically Hell's Gate on a larger scale, but still that great sulfur smell. Once again some very interesting sights so check out the pictures.
