Today was a big driving day. Ugh!  We left by 7:20.  We had to drive through part of the Badlands to get to Interstate 90.  We escaped the entrance fee the day before but had to pay today.  We stopped at some rest stops but of first big stop was Mitchell, South Dakota home of the Corn Palace.  It was very cool.  There were murals of different things made from different colors of corn.  we walked around inside and outside.  Next we tried to find the frisbee golf course with no luck so we went to Subway to get some lunch.  We had a gift card and we split a foot long chicken bacon ranch sandwich.  Miles got three chocolate chip cookies for us to share too.  Miles was trying to pour Hawaiian Punch and spilled it all over the place saying some choice words.  We ended up funding the frisbee golf and ate in the parking lot.  We started playing and by the third hole I was in thw water.  Normally it would be a cute little creek, but it was more than waist deep.  I took off my pants and shirt and went across. I got the frisbee and put back on my long shirt and carried my pants and shoes for the next 6 holes.  I kicked Miles' butt because he was getting mosquito bites really bad ( I was too, but wouldn't admit it).  He was also irritated that we just weren't driving straight through.  I offered to drive from Mitchell until the information center for Minnesota.  I walked over and got a picture of the Minnesota sign.  We stopped in Blue Earth,  Minnesota home of the World's Largest Jolly Green Giant Statue.  We took some pcitrures then drove further to the frisbee golf course in Blue Earth.  I had a goal of playing frisbee golf in each state we visit. It was a nice and easy 9 hole course.  Then we continued and finally at Albert Lea we got off of I-90 and took I-35 into Iowa.  We stopped at the rest area/welcome center then continued to Waterloo, Iowa where we ate a late supper at Olive Garden because we had a gift card.  There were some annoying people next to use and the girl kept talking about how amazing Europe is compared to the United States. Miles and I were both analyzing the three people and had an interesting converstaion after they left.  Miles got a new dish called steak crusted something, and he said it was really good.  I had the faithful standby chicken parmesean.  It was good for Miles to eat a bunch because between his trip to Colorado and this trip he has gotten skinny.  We drove another hour or so and made it to Iowa City.  We stayed at the Travelodge.  I thought it was quite nice for being the cheapest hotel around.  I submitted a grad school assignment then we added some ice to the cooler, watched some shark week on Discovery and went to bed.
